The HILL, a major self-financing cultural destination, unlike any other, for the broader public.

The HILL -  an “Urban Eden”, where a landscaped garden structure rises out of an urban setting, acting as a roof or framework for a series of flexibly linked spaces, in which artistic and cultural content can be presented in fresh and exciting ways to entertain and inform us.

Engaging landscaping and gardens prompt exploration – Holes to crawl into, and slide down into the hill, doors and lifts leading into the Underhill.

Within the Hill – a unique fusion of the very best. A diverse range of disciplines from technology, installation, computing, film, engineering, with artists, creatives, designers, and ride manufacturers all to create a visionary space.

An approachable, interactive and totally immersive environment, to continually develop and evolve an ongoing dialogue between artists and visitors.
A fusion of ‘audience generated’ and ‘artist lead’ ever changing content, with immersive, multi sensual entertaining content for all people, across class, culture and background.

Imagine riding through an artwork by John Waters reflecting All the Horrors of Every Day Living, flow through an installation by Pipilotti Rist exploring our Future Nature and How we Love. Or seep through an installation by Tony Ourslerreaching through All the People’s Skin in the World.

No tired film tie-ins, cartoons or clichés. No Theme. A place to see who we are,each year.

All new content. Like a cinema or theatre, 12 new commissions every year, opening one room a month.

The Hill is a social enterprise developed with, architects, artists, designers, a shaman-storyteller, the executive architect of the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Open City (Formally Open House) in collaboration with Southwark schools and community groups.

Reactive to the needs of the HILL’s audience, we will provide unique memorable experiences. A fusion of technology, arts, imagination, discovery, innovation, free play and pure enjoyment.

The Hill was unanimously endorsed at the Hayward’s “3 big ideas for London” as one of “100 Art projects that would change the world”. We don’t think we will change the world, but we will bring in new audiences to fun complex content, with some of the world’s most exciting creatives.
